The benefits of vinyl

Vinyl round pen

When building a round pen, you have two main railing types to choose from – vinyl and wood. Vinyl is a great choice and has many advantages over wood. Its high-quality material makes it better able to withstand even the harshest elements in any climate, whether warm or cold. Better yet, it’s easy to install and will last for years to come.

It’s also a great choice to ensure the safety of you and your horse. It absorbs impact better than wood does so if you accidentally run into it, you and your horse will lightly bounce backward. Railings made from wood break apart and splinter more easily.

Best of all, it’s much easier to assemble than wood. Using wood involves a lot of cutting and trimming to get the measurements just right. Vinyl comes in rolls – all you need is string, snips, and a socket to secure.

As you begin to install a round pen, outline the top railing with string. A level line helps ensure your railing is straight along the entire perimeter and serves as a great guide. When working with vinyl, you’ll need a few special tools including splicers, brackets, and bucklers.

Vinyl makes a great choice for round pens because of its maintenance-free operation and long-lasting reputation in the industry.
